So we had decided last night that we would head over to the other side of the mountain today and check out Grand Targhee....
I awoke still feeling pretty shattered to be honest but then I looked at this out of the window... sod being tired and grumpy... this was way too exciting!! The locals call it 'puking' us Europeans would call it dumping!!
So we got in the wagon and Pete drove us up to Grand Targhee.... it was slightly worrying as everyone else was coming towards Jackson as we were going to GT... but the word was that when Jackson got 'puked' on GT got more... so we continued going! We saw some locals walking up the road and they had clearly already hiked up and found some fresh tracks down on a little pre work jaunt... what a life!! Not that we have it at all bad hey!!
On route to GT we had to drive through Idaho so I have now visited 7 states in the US - 5 this year! Here's Idaho!
When we got to Grand Targhee it was freezing and the vis was really bad and to be honest after our first run down where we found some but not much powder we were wondering what we had done leaving Jackson... but when Emma was in buying a balaclava the man in the shop told her to head to the trees off the Sacajawea lift...
So this is what we started out with
and then we found the trees and happy days the powder!! Oh and I found my ski legs as the first few runs my legs were not playing ball but as soon as they found the powder my legs came to life!! :0)))
We did this run 3 times and then decided that it was food time but we decided to take the scenic route to get there. Ailsa decided after a fall that she would head down the piste but Em, Pete and I took the route where we had seen some mad boarders go earlier and where it very clearly said ' Experts only.. cliff edge!' Mum don't look... Terry read and weep you would've loved this!! This a view of it from afar after we had done it and got over the rock band and were whopping it down the powder field!! Just below the top of the slope about half way along the photo and then go straight down through the trees over the rock band and into the valley!! :0)
After lunch it was back to the S lift and more trees.... so much fun.... and then we found a jump... and a powder field so here's some photos of me rippin' it US style... not bad for my first air!!
Overall today was another AWESOME day.... my confidence is soaring and I am loving this powder! Tomorrow we are staying in Jackson - we were going to have a rest day but hey I can do that in the office next week.. so it will be first lifts and maybe fresh tracks again if the forecast is right!!
