Ailsa arrives for Thanksgiving!

Finally finally after what seemed like a long wait Ailsa arrived and it is SO fab to have her here again - her 4th visit this year!!

Wednesday night we simply chilled at home and had a lovely catch up and got excited about the festivities of Thanksgiving the next day!

Thursday / Thanksgiving day arrived and we got right on with the prep when we woke up! Dinner was being served at 6pm for Meg, Luke, Camelle and Phil! Thanskgiving is much the same as an English Christmas dinner - its turkey and all the trimmings but there are differences! The American way of cooking turkey though is to soak it in brine for 6 hours before cooking so here is the bird in brine!

Luke actually was head chef for the day! How cool - I provide the venue and Luke does the cooking aided obviously by the star sous chefs Meg, Ailsa and I!

Luke worked us sous chef's so hard that we had to have a Mimosa / Bucks fizz break at 1pm!(Well prep had started at 11.30!!)


So the menu.....

Champange for starters.........

Roast Turkey, Nut Roast, Baked sweet potatoes, Paremsan mashed potatoes, Spinich & Artichoke casserole, Sprouts, Green Beans

Chocolate mousse & Pumpkin Pie

Cheese

So here we all are - hungry for good food!

Rather then let all my guests have a post dinner snooze I decided that it was time for silly games....

The Mars bar game.... which involves trying to unwrap a parcel whilst wearing gloves, hat and goggles! Very silly....

Then flour pudding.... slice the pudding til the coin falls....

And then get it out with your teeth! Ailsa won the first game!

Luke won this time!
The evening finished at 1am with Luke rolling around on the lounge floor saying that he missed Terry... Meg and I just looked on and laughed!!

Thanks all for a GREAT day... it was a really fun time and I think we are all in agreement that Thanksgiving should now be a yearly tradition.. wherever we are!

Today was a chilling day.... Ailsa and I spent a bit of time clearing up and then we watched Breakfast at Tiffany's and enjoyed being lazy... then we went to Castle Island for a blustery walk by the sea which certainly cleared the fuzzy heads!

Then it was time for hair appointments so we could be glam on the sofas eating leftovers in front of the roaring fire! Ailsa is the fire starter!!
